Abstract

The presentation addresses the issue of emotions in EU climate an energy policies. The analysis concentrates on how EU policy-makers, particularly Members of the European Parliament, address and govern the emotions of the people and how they express emotions themselves when constructing the policies. The analysis is based on a qualitative study of a selected corpus of openly available EU policy material, combining debates in the European Parliament and other official policy documents of the EU and applying a perspective that combines elements from discourse and narrative analyses and interpretive policy analysis. The presentation is part of the Horizon Europe project “Politics of Grievance and Democratic Governance” (PLEDGE).
