The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals is a graduate teaching and research institution created in 2004 by five public universities in the Barcelona area (the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra University, the Open University of Catalonia and The Politechnical University of Catalonia). Supported by different public institutions, its aim is to promote advanced research and teaching in international relations, international political economy, comparative politics and related areas.

The IHS is a private non-profit organization. It was founded in 1963 by two prominent Austrians living in exile, the sociologist Paul F. Lazarsfeld and the economist Oskar Morgenstern, with the financial help of the Ford Foundation, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, and the City of Vienna. At present nearly 40 % of the Institute's budget is accounted for by commissioned research. The remaining funding is provided by subsidies from the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, the Austrian National Bank, the City of Vienna and other institutions. The Institute for Advanced Studies is divided into three departments of scientific research and teaching: Economics & Finance, Political Science, and Sociology. The institute counts approximately 60 scientific employees and 26 administrative employees. About 40 students are presently participating in the postgraduate course programs.

The Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade is an academic institution in Belgrade, Serbia. It is for research of political science.

The Institute for Social Research is an independent research institute in Oslo. The Institute for Social Research is organised as a foundation and has, since its establishment in 1950, played a vital role in the development of Norwegian social research. The institute has almost 60 permanent employees and its goal is to be a leading research community in the areas of society, politics and working life. Our research is divided into seven main topics: Working life, media and the public sphere, gender equality, migration and integration, civil society, elections and democracy and welfare. The Institute for Social Research seeks to create a broad research environment without sharp distinctions between basic and applied research. The research shall be independent, innovative, socially relevant and of a high academic standard. We place emphasis on our research being published in peer-reviewed publications and forums. At the Institute for Social Research, we are proud that our research makes a difference, and that our results are emphasised in policy formulation and public debate. We work actively to disseminate our findings and analyses to decision-makers and the general public through seminars, op-ed articles and publications in the form of reports, journals and books.

In August 1969, Dr. Shih-Chieh Wang, the late President of Academia Sinica, realizing the importance of American Cultural Studies, proposed the establishment of a center for American Studies in the Republic of China with the help of the Sino-American Cooperation Committee on Humanities and Social Sciences. As a result, the Center for American Studies was founded on March 12, 1972. In July 1974, the Center was officially incorporated as the Institute of American Culture Studies, Academia Sinica. In response to the increasing importance of European Studies in recent years, the name of the Institute was changed to the Institute of European and American Studies (IEAS) on August 3, 1991. Reflecting its newly expanded mandate, the Institute strived to further European Studies and to recruit competent scholars in the fields of European Studies. The current director is Professor Norman Y. Teng.

The Institute of International Politics and Economics (IIPE) was founded in 1947 in Belgrade and is therefore the oldest state scientific institute in the field of international relations in Europe. IIPE was founded in 1947 as a small group of researchers aimed at laying the foundations of Yugoslav International Relations. The Institute has gradually turned into the largest research organisation of this kind in former Yugoslavia, and today′s Serbia, and has had the long standing international reputation as well. To the present day, IIPE carries out a wide variety of research encouraging development of new and inovative analysis of world politics.

The Institute of International Relations (IIR) is an independent public research institution which conducts scholarly research in the area of international relations.

The Institute of Sociology is engaged in the pursuit of research into contemporary society and in the provision of post-graduate education in the field of sociology. It conducts ongoing and one-time empirical surveys, comparative research studies, public opinion surveys, and case studies, applying modern qualitative and quantitative research methods, and it also cultivates the development of sociological theory and methodology. Research at the Institute also makes use of information, concepts and methods drawn from related scholarly fields, such as economics, law, political science, demography, social geography, and gender studies.

IPRI-NOVA is an institute dedicated to advanced studies in Political Science and International Relations. The IPRI-NOVA Research Unit is an academic research institute founded in 2003 by NOVA University of Lisbon, the Luso-American Foundation for Development and the Oriente Foundation, with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Since 2012, IPRI-NOVA has also been integrated by other institutions and companies, such as the Millennium BCP Foundation, the EDP Foundation, BPI and REN. IPRI-NOVA was recognized as a Public Utility Institution on October 1, 2010, for its services to the community in the field of culture, through the promotion of academic research in Political Science and International Relations on a multidisciplinary basis. As an institute for advanced studies in Political Science and International Relations, IPRI-NOVA is an integrated project structured around three fundamental axes: scientific research, specialized training – doctorate and post-doctorate –, and knowledge transfer and creation of social value.

International Burch University is the leading private university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, developing the leaders of tomorrow, producing world-class research, and supporting the socio-economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is relatively young, established in 2008, but can boast of 3,000 alumni and counting, thousands of peer-reviewed publications, and dozens of thousands of citations. This attests to its educational, research, and societal impact, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also worldwide. Although International Burch University is a comprehensive university, with study programmes and experts in various non-political science areas such as electrical engineering, genetics, and pedagogy, it has a strong programme in international relations and European studies but also the Social Sciences Research Center, both of which are well-equipped to carry out high-level teaching and research in the field of political science. The Social Sciences Research Center, as a university-affiliated think tank, acts locally but thinks globally in conducting epistemologically diverse and methodologically rigorous research aimed at filling demonstrated knowledge gaps and, through that, contribute to better policymaking. We specialize in research our societies, endeavoring to highlight the role of politics, widely understood, in seemingly disparate fields such as economics and law.

Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon was founded in 1972 as one of Portugal’s first modern universities, with the central aim of studying labour and social dynamics in a rapidly changing world. Since its establishment, the university has expanded its disciplinary reach with an additional five Schools: Business, Sociology and Public Policy, Technology and Architecture, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Digital Technologies, Economy and Society. Many departments and centres throughout these schools have individuals involved in politically related fields and research. Two centres are especially active in Political Science and/or International Relations research: Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES) and Centre for International Studies (CEI). CIES-Iscte is a R&D unit in the area of social sciences dedicated to studying contemporary social problems from a multidisciplinary perspective. Constituted in 1985, it is part of Iscte's School of Sociology and Public Policy. The Centre for International Studies has as its core mission developing academic research, thinking, and intervention in a range of complex social, political, and economic phenomena that go beyond national and regional borders, addressing the most critical 21st Century international developments and societal challenges. Of the approximately 10.000 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Iscte, nearly 20% are international, coming from 80 different countries. Furthermore, the university is actively engaged in collaborative projects, networks, and partnerships around the world, including a range of educational, training, and research programs supported by the European Union.

The Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences is an independent institution and the leading public institute in the field of social sciences in Croatia. The Institute has 106 employees working in Zagreb and eight regional centres from Dubrovnik to Vukovar and a lot of experiences in the European Research Area. The joint work of sociologists, psychologists, historians, demographers and other scientists in the Institute fosters a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to the research of wide-ranging social and humanistic phenomena from identity and cohesion to mobility and innovation. Our mission is a creation and dissemination of empirically generated and thematically diverse social and humanistic knowledge, participation in the European Research Area (H2020, Erasmus+, etc.) and other international cooperation and at the same time contribution to development processes in Croatia at the national and local level. Among the Institute's publishing activities, the most prominent is Društvena istraživanja, a journal that is indexed in Current Contents and other bibliographic databases.
