Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Athens, Greece) is a public university that offers a wide range of scientific fields in the areas of social and political theory and research: international and European studies, science and media, sociology, social anthropology, psychology, political science, history, social policy, public administration, and economic and regional development. Panteion University has shaped the development of the relevant scientific fields in Greece through a long and distinguished history of educational research and social contribution. The venture to start a School of Political Science started in 1924 and the School was inaugurated in 1930. In 1989, the School was converted into the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. Panteion University today consists of four Schools (School of Economy and Public Administration, School of Political Science, School of Social Science and School of International Studies, Communication & Culture). Through its four Schools but also through its network of research centres, institutes, and laboratories, it is continuously committed to maintaining the social aspect of public tertiary education, promoting quality interconnection between academic education and research, and defending and promoting social sciences. By being systematically dedicated to modern educational, theoretical and research approaches, cultivating interdisciplinarity, promoting international collaborations, and maintaining close ties with society, the academic community of Panteion University is at the cutting-edge of quality teaching, and scientifically and socially acknowledged research. Panteion University is located on Syngrou Avenue, Kallithea, close to the centre of Athens. The privately-owned facilities encompass three buildings, constructed at different eras, and beautiful gardens, making up a quaint campus. Panteion University is the only Greek university specifically dedicated to social and political sciences. Panteion emphasises the promotion of interdisciplinarity, innovation and the advancement of critical thinking in the study of social and political institutions, as well as social phenomena in Greece, the EU and globally. Research carried out at Panteion is of two types: theoretical research aiming at the creation of new knowledge in social and political theory and applied research seeking to understand contemporary social issues and develop efficient and sustainable solutions.
