The Institute of Political Science at the University of Bern is one of the leading political science departments in Switzerland. Research and teaching focus on the following main areas: the Swiss political system, comparative politics, European and environmental policy, and political sociology. The institute is embedded in the Department of Social Sciences. In addition, there are close links within the University of Bern with the World Trade Institute, the Center for Public Management, the Center for Development and Environment, and the Oeschger Center of Climate Change Research.
