ECPR launches its Series on Middle Eastern Policy and EU Relations

The inaugural webinar critically examined the past year of the war in Gaza, focusing on the EU's efforts to support stability in the region.

One year on, Gaza remains a symbol of conflict and suffering. With the war escalating, can the EU leverage its tools to restore peace, uphold its principles, and apply them equally across the Middle East?

The inaugural webinar of our Series on Middle Eastern Policy and EU Relations engaged the audience in a rich discussion about the complex realities faced by Middle Eastern communities. Experts Michael Köhler and Michelle Pace delved into the EU's actions, addressing the limitations and opportunities to reaffirm its commitment to stability, democracy, and a principled foreign policy.

Watch the webinar recording below to learn what changes are essential for Europe to become a true force for peace and justice.

About the speakers

Michael Köhler is the Ambassador and co-leader of the Grand Bargain agreement between some of the largest donors and humanitarian organisations who have committed to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the humanitarian action.

Michelle Pace is Professor in Global Studies at Roskilde University, Denmark. A political scientist by training, she focuses on the intersection between European Studies, Middle East Studies, Democratisation Studies and Conflict Studies.
