We are proud to confirm that all content from our journals is now being published Open Access on Cambridge Core, making high-quality political science research freely available to readers worldwide.
Following a new seven-year agreement with Cambridge University Press, three of our journals have moved to Open Access in 2026:
A fourth journal, Political Research Exchange (PRX), will join Cambridge University Press in January 2028. Cambridge has also published ECPR's European Political Science Review (EPSR) since its launch in 2009.
Together, our journals showcase the breadth and depth of political science in Europe and beyond.
For more than fifty years, ECPR has supported rigorous political science scholarship and collaboration across borders. The partnership with Cambridge University Press builds on this mission, reflecting shared ambitions for innovative, sustainable, and inclusive scholarly publishing.

The move was a necessary step in adapting to a swiftly changing academic landscape, and we are confident it will empower our broad political science community to expand their networks worldwide through a strong, consolidated publishing outlet.
Building on the success of EPSR and PRX, which already publish fully Open Access, we are removing financial and access barriers so that new research across ECPR journals can be published, read, and shared freely.
Open Access publication is supported through Cambridge University Press’s extensive network of transformative agreements and funding programmes, alongside APC waivers for ECPR Member affiliates publishing in PRX.
All newly published content is Open Access on Cambridge Core. Some archival content may remain subscription-only, depending on the journal and publication date.
Open Access publishing brings immediate advantages to the global political science community:
ECPR journals continue to apply the same rigorous editorial standards and peer-review processes, while publishing Open Access with no cost barriers for authors.
Publishing Open Access on Cambridge Core enables:

By partnering with Cambridge University Press and moving our portfolio to open access by 2026, we are reaffirming our commitment to this scholarship, to our global community, and to making research freely accessible to all.
