Aline Burni studied Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil), where she has collaborated with the Center for Legislative Studies (CEL) and earned her PhD in 2019. She researches in the areas of Comparative and European Politics, Populism, Political Parties, Radical Right, and Development Policies. During her doctoral studies, she was a Fulbright grantee at New York University. She works as a researcher for the German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) investigating the topic of right-wing populism and implications for international cooperation, within the programme "Inter- and transnational cooperation". Previously, Aline Burni worked with multi-sector international partnerships for the international NGO PYXERA Global and for the Minas Gerais State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher Education.
