About

Amanda Machin is full professor of political sociology at the University of Agder in Norway. Her research focuses on radical democracy, citizenship, populism and the discourses and imaginaries of environmental politics. She has published on these topics with journals such as Environmental Politics, Environmental Values, Democratic Theory and The Green European Journal. Her books include Negotiating Climate Change: Radical Democracy and the Illusion of Consensus (Zed Books, 2013) Society and Climate: Transformations and Challenges (World Scientific 2019, with Nico Stehr) and, most recently, Bodies of Democracy: Modes of Embodied Politics (Transcript, 2022). Together with Marcel Wissenburg she is currently editing the Handbook of Environmental Political Theory in the Anthropocene for Edward Elgar.
