Ana Varela is a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science and Public Policies at NOVA University of Lisbon (NOVA FCSH). Research Fellow at IPRI NOVA (Portuguese Institute of International Relations) and researcher at PPEACE Project - Public Policies for migrants reception (third country nationals, asylum seekers and refugees). She is also a strongly motivated and results-driven professional, with +20 years of experience in Portugal and abroad on E.U. Law, Public Law, Public Policies, Human Rights, Migration and Social Security. Relevant experience in legal writing and legal advice to policy makers. Demonstrated results in project management, strategic plans, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, education & training and academic research. Ana started her career as a litigation lawyer. She has an extensive experience of volunteer work, including in refugee camps, reception centers and detention centers for migrants. She is also a passionate reader and writer with a Fine Arts Drawing Course.
