I am a Fritz Thyssen Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt, Germany, specializing in human rights & transitional justice, peace and conflict, global international relations, critical race/whiteness studies and gender/masculinities studies. I received my PhD in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, USA, in February 2021, and my dissertation on "White Reckonings" co-received the Peter Ackerman Award for most outstanding dissertation, having accompanied anti-racist white activists as they endeavored and struggled to contribute to transformative racial justice possibilities in the United States. My current research looks comparatively and globally at issues of colonial-racial reckoning, repair and resistance, with a particular focus on white masculinities in Germany and the United States. Prior to my graduate studies, I worked in global humanitarian assistance and human rights, having managed humanitarian programs in a number of disaster, conflict and post-crisis environments. Raised in the United States, I currently live in Germany with my German partner and binational children.
