About

Brit Anlar is a PhD candidate in Political Science at Rutgers University where she focuses on Women and Politics and Comparative Politics. Her research explores political representation and political parties at the intersection of age and gender. She is most interested in how young people make it to elected office and the ways that candidate recruitment and selection may be both an aged and gendered process. In her dissertation, Chutes, Ladders, and Snakes: Candidate Recruitment and Youth Representation, she hopes to contribute to current discussions of youth representation and young women's representation in parliaments by examining the aged and gendered nature of candidate recruitment and selection mechanisms. She also hope to contribute to knowledge of candidate selection and recruitment as well as to the growing interest in young people's political representation and political participation.
