My research interests centre on conflict and conflict transformation. I am particularly interested in the factors that help to generate conflict and in particular how long-term processes of “Othering” feed communal tensions. As such, I examine how popular history/ies contribute, alongside contemporary grievances, to maintaining social divisions. Related to this I am interested in processes of identity formation – particularly in national identities and nationalism.
