About

I am professor of sociology and gender studies at Sabanci University. I received my B.A. and M.A. in sociology from Bogazici University and my Ph.D. in sociology with a graduate certificate in gender studies from the University of Southern California. I am interested in the sociology of gender and sexualities with a focus on men and masculinities, queer studies, globalization and neoliberalism, class and social inequalities, sociology of work, youth cultures, mobilities and the city, and qualitative research methods. I have published articles in Social Politics, Sexualities, Journal of Gender Studies, Urban Geography, International Feminist Journal of Politics, GLQ, New Perspectives on Turkey, South Atlantic Quarterly, Turkish Studies, Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies, Toplum ve Bilim, Doğu Batı, Cogito, and beyond.istanbul.
