I work as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the working group ‘Comparative Politics and German Government’ at the Technical University Darmstadt. My research focuses on the political behaviour and attitudes of voters and party elites on the national and local level. With regard to the local level, I am particularly interested in questions regarding the impact of party competition and party supply in local elections on voter behaviour. A special focus within this research area lies on the explanation of the success of Independent Local Lists as important challengers to established parties in municipal elections. Further, I analyze the success of populism and its consequences for liberal democracy and political representation as well as its impact on political attitudes.
