I am Senior Program Officer in the Dealing with the Past Program at swisspeace, focusing on victim and civil society participation in Dealing with the Past processes, enforced disappearances, strengthening of civil society, and the use of justice mechanisms, such as universal jurisdiction, among others. I have worked for over 15 years on Dealing with the Past and Human Rights issues, mostly on Latin American context, as well as the MENA region and the Caucasus. At swisspeace, I also teache in the swisspeace courses, at the University of Basel, as well as in customized trainings for clients. Since 2018, I serve as “amicus curiae” (international expert) for the Special Jurisdiction for Peace in Colombia. I am also the director of the working group on transitional justice of the Latin-American Society for International Law (LASIL). For the past 8 years, I have been teaching at Santa Clara University's Law School International Humanitarian Law and Transitional Justice. Before joining swisspeace, I worked for The Guernica Group, the Center for Justice and Accountability and at the Inter-American Court for Human Rights, as well as with the German development agency GIZ. I also served as independent consultant to different international, non-governmental and governmental organizations, such as the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP), and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). I hold a law degree from the University of Fribourg, a MA of International Studies in International Law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Transitional Justice & Democratization, from the University of Santiago de Chile.
