About

Costin Ciobanu is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Royal Holloway (University of London), within the ERC-funded “New parties in the news” project. In 2022, he obtained a Ph.D. in Political Science from McGill University, with a thesis on the political and electoral consequences of economic shocks. His substantive research interests revolve around economic voting, campaign effects, and political communication. He is particularly interested in how different types of labor market shocks (e.g. bankruptcy, offshoring, automation) influence political attitudes and voting behavior in Eastern and Western Europe. Methodologically, Costin is interested in causal inference with observational and experimental data, and survey design and analysis.
