Dr David Horan is a Marie Curie IRC Caroline Post-doc Researcher at UCD's School of Politics and International Relations. During 2018-20, he was Visiting Researcher at United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN) in New York. His project is titled “Data and Governance Framework for Achieving Environmental Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” His academic mentor for the project is Professor David Farrell. Dr Horan’s specialisms are in sustainable development, UN 2030 Agenda, the environmental SDGs, integrated approaches to SDG implementation, SDG indicators and SDG partnerships and sustainability governance. David has consulted for the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs on SDG17 Partnerships for the Goals. He is member of the UN Friends of Governance for Sustainable Development, and Research Associate of UN SDSN,. His background is in Economics. He received his Ph.D. from European University Institute in Florence, Italy, in 2012 for a dissertation on R&D and innovation policy. Prior to joining UCD, he worked as Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Economics at Oxford Brookes University and Dublin City University. He has lectured widely in Economics, particularly at undergraduate level.
