About

Didier Georgakakis, 56, is a political science full professor at the University Paris 1- Panthéon-Sorbonne where he holds the J. Monnet Chair on Sociology of European administration and politics. An honorary junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), he is a member of the European centre for Sociology and Political Science (Sorbonne-EHESS-CNRS) and a visiting Prof at the College of Europe (Bruges), where he heads the General Studies ("EG") Programme. At Paris 1 as well at the CoE, Didier Georgakakis teaches mainly historical and political sociology of the EU. His current research focuses on the European civil service and the reconfigurations of the EU’s institutional and administrative space. He has published and edited several books and journal issues, and his research has appeared in numerous leading peer-reviewed journals in social and political science and in many collective volumes in France and abroad. Didier Georgakakis have had a lot of academic responsibilities in Strasbourg as well as in Paris as chair of CNRS Lab of research, of master's degrees (including now one in partnership with the ENA, the french school of administration), and transversal responsibilities in MSH, PEAP or now representing Paris 1 in the consortium Europaeum and in European alliances of universities. Vice President of the French association of political science (AFSP) and vice president of the European Confederation of Political Science Associations (ECPSA) until 2020, he is a founding member of the European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities, and one the key actor who contributed to triple the budget of Horizon Europe for research on Democracy, Social transformations and culture (Cluster 2)
