Professor of Political Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Teaching interests: comparative politics, political sociology. Research interests: democratization and civil society in Southern Europe and the Balkans; comparative study of public bureaucracy; comparative social policy; higher education policy. Senior Research Fellow at the LSE' s Hellenic Observatory (2003) and Visiting Fellow at St. Antony's College, Oxford (2009-2010). Has co-edited the volumes "Is Southeastern Europe Doomed to Instability?" (With Th. Veremis), London: Frank Cass, 2002 and "Democracy and the State in Southern Europe" (with R. Gunther and P.N. Diamandouros), Oxford: OUP 2006. He has also published articles on public administration and social policy in Greece, Southern Europe and the Balkans in international journals (European Journal of Social Policy, Social Policy and Administration).
