About

Fabiano Angélico is a postdoc researcher at GRIP (Gruppo di Ricerca sull'Integrità Pubblica - Public Integrity Research Group) at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences at USI in cotutelle with the Business Administration School of São Paulo at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV/EAESP) in Brazil. He also holds an M.Sc. in Public Administration and Government from the FGV/EAESP in Brazil, with post-graduation studies in Law from the University of Chile and a BA in Journalism from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). His research focuses on open data, transparency, open government, accountability, anti-corruption, and anti-money laundering issues. He is particularly interested in the potential and limitations of open data and social accountability in countering corruption and money laundering. He also analyses the impact of grand corruption and money laundering, focusing on reparations via social reuse of the recovered assets. Before joining USI, Angélico worked at São Paulo City Hall in Brazil and provided consultancy services to different international non-profits (Transparency International, Global Integrity, CiFAR - Civil Forum for Asset Recovery) and multilateral organizations, such as the World Bank, UNODC, UNDP, UNESCO and EUROsociAL (program for cooperation between the European Union and Latin America).
