About

Francesca Forno obtained a BA in Sociology, summa cum laude, at the University of Urbino, IT (1995) and a PhD in Politics at Strathclyde University, UK (2003). She is an Associate Professor at Trento University, where she teaches Sociology and Sociology of consumption. Her research interests concern sustainable consumption, grassroots innovations and social-eco transitions. A special focus in these areas is on the consequences of the spread of market-based forms of action for citizens' participation and mobilisation. At Trento Uni, she coordinates the Research Unit CoACT (Collective Action Change and Transition). She is an Associate Editor of Partecipazione e Conflitto, the first Italian / International academic journal that studies social and political participation. She is a member of numerous national and international research groups and is currently the national coordinator of the project 'MAKING FOOD DEMOCRACY. Investigating and experimenting with how food policies work'. Her work has appeared in leading journals, including The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Journal of Consumer Culture, Southern European Society and Politics, International Journal of Consumer Studies, European Societies, British Food Journal, Food Policy, and in collections of essays published by Oxford University Press, Wiley-Blackwell, Palgrave, and Routledge.
