Jayane Maia is a Doctoral Researcher at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA Hamburg) and at the Universität Erfurt. She is also a member of the network Red de Estudios sobre Política Subnacional en América Latina (REPSAL). Her research interests include subnational elections, party systems, federalism, and decentralization, with a focus on Latin America. She recently edited the special section ‘Elections in Latin America from a Multi-Level Perspective’ published in the Bulletin of Latin American Research (2023).
