About

I am a PhD researcher at the EUI, currently visiting and lecturing at the University of Zurich. I have a great interest in understanding dynamics between climate justice grassroots, traditional media, and public opinion formation over time. More specifically, I am working on activists’ capacity to substantially and substantively alter the discursive field around the climate crisis. I investigated feedback dynamcis between protest events, media coverage, electoral and voting behaviour, party manifestos, and legislation. More recently, I began engaging with meaning-making of protest events in traditional media. I hope to capture temporal variation in how journalists portray grassroots blocking critical infrastructure and how much voice they give to the involved actors (i.e., police, elite, bystanders, activists, etc.). I am also keen to gain insight in how newspaper readers and members of parliament react to journalistic framing and changes in the public discourse. I like to approach my research questions from different angles, and hence work quantitatively as well as qualitatively.
