About

Kostas Kanellopoulos (PhD, Panteion University, 2009) is a Researcher at the Institute of Political Research, National Centre for Social Research, Greece. The main subjects of his research, writing and teaching work are: the theory and study of social movements and contentious politics, comparative politics and the phenomenon of globalization, political participation and electoral behavior, social change and crisis, the phenomenon of nationalism, the sociology of news and discourse analysis. He has taught at the University of Crete, the University of Athens, the University of Peloponnese, the Democritus University of Thrace, the Hellenic Open University and at the Technological Educational Institutes of Patras and Piraeus. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Crete having worked on several national, bilateral and international research projects on the analysis of protest events and political claims in the Eurozone crisis, discourse analysis, civil society, radical trade unionism, the emergence of contemporary transnational solidarity, the politicization of European integration. Currently he collaborates in the research project "EPOCA-Hollowing democracy, party politics and social protest during the Great Recession". The case of Greece, 2008-2018" at Panteion University. He is also the Secretary General of the Hellenic Political Science Society (2016-2018, 2018-2020 & 2020-today).
