Dr. Lisanne Groen works as an assistant professor at the Open University of the Netherlands on environmental policy. She is also an associate researcher at the Brussels School of Governance (BSOG), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). From November 2016 until November 2018, she worked and lived in Tokyo, Japan, as a JSPS-UNU postdoctoral researcher, on low carbon technology transfer policies at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). At the BSOG-VUB Lisanne worked on a PhD project funded by the Flemish Research Foundation FWO, entitled: “Understanding the Changing Effectiveness of the European Union in International Biodiversity and Climate Change Governance”. Her promoter was Prof. Dr. Sebastian Oberthür. She obtained her PhD in 2016.
