About

I am Assistant Professor of Latin American Politics at the Institute of the Americas at University College London (UCL) and Global Fellow at the Brazil Institute at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars. Previously, I was a post-doctoral researcher (Oberassistentin) at the Department of Political Science of the University of Zurich. My work explores questions about political behavior, representation, policy-making, and gender and politics with a regional focus on Latin America, especially Brazil. For example, my book manuscript tackles the puzzle of why and how male-dominated legislatures adopt gender quotas. I am also currently developing projects on the impact of Dilma Rousseff's impeachment to women in politics in Brazil; the gendered and racialized dynamics of vote-buying; and the political prospects of women, Black, and LGBTQI+ first-time candidates in Brazilian elections.
