Marian Sawer is Emeritus Professor and Public Policy Fellow at the Australian National University. She was the co-editor of International Political Science Review 2012-2021 and co-chair of the 24th World Congress of Political Science in Poznan, 2016. She has published widely in the fields of gender, politics and policy, democratic theory and practice and liberal ideology. Recent books include Australia: The State of Democracy (coauthored, 2009); Federalism, Feminism and Multilevel Governance (coedited, 2010); The Women's Movement in Protest, Institutions and the Internet (coedited, 2013); Party Rules? Dilemmas of Party Regulation in Australia (coedited 2016); Gender Innovation in Political Science: New norms, new knowledge (co-edited 2018); Morrison's Miracle: The 2019 Australian Federal Election (co-edited 2019); How Gender Can Transform the Social Sciences (co-edited 2019); The Handbook of Feminist Governance (co-edited 2023); Watershed: The 2022 Australian Federal Election (coedited, 2023). Her current research includes a comparative project for Palgrave on the development of codes of conduct in Westminster parliaments (Toxic Parliaments and What Can Be Done about Them (2024).
