Currently Senior Lecturer at the Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex. Main research interests are in the comparative political economy of climate and energy policy. From 2012 to 2018, was Senior Research Fellow working on the EPSRC-funded IGov project and a member of the Energy Policy Group in the School of Geography, University of Exeter. Previously Head of Climate Change at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, focusing on the politics of fossil fuel subsidy and power sector reform and Associate Director of Energy, Climate Change and Transport at the Institute for Public Policy Research. In 2009-2010 worked on secondment to the UK Government, helping to write the strategy on smart grids. Have also worked as a consultant and adviser to the Design Council, the London Development Agency, the Deputy Mayor of London, the Department for International Development (DfID), the Sustainable Development Commission and Friends of the Earth UK.
