About

Dr. Pavlos I. Koktsidis - Adj. Lecturer at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, University of Cyprus. (BA in Politics and International Relations, University of Lancaster; MA in Comparative Ethnic Conflict and PhD in Security and Conflict Analysis, Queen’s University of Belfast). He lectures on Foreign Policy, International Relations and Conflict Resolution at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, University of Cyprus. He has also taught courses on Regional Security, Strategy and War, Comparative Politics, EU Politics and Policies and EU External Relations. He completed his ESRC sponsored training course in Methods of Political Science at the University of Edinburgh. Parallel to his teaching activity, from 2016-2019 he was the principal researcher and project administrator for the Erasmus+ EastMed EU-programme (2016-2019). He is currently head researcher of the Institute for Democracy and Political Studies, associate researcher with the South Eastern European Research Centre (SEERC) and research associate at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy in Athens (ELIAMEP). Participated in numerous international conferences and workshops (IPSA, ECPR, PSA). His research interests focus on ethnic conflict analysis (root causes, catalysts, and opportunities), ethno-federalism and autonomy, with an area focus on the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans. He is author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals (Journal of Ethnopolitics, Eastern European Quarterly, Dynamics of Asymmetric Conflict, Civil Wars, Mediterranean Quarterly, Journal of Peace and Conflict Studies, Perspectives on Federalism), and author of several policy-reports and book chapters. He is the author of the monograph Strategic Rebellion: Ethnic Conflict in FYR Macedonia and the Balkans (Peter Lang 2012) and editor of the book Societies in Transition: Economic, Political and Security Transformations in Contemporary Europe (Springer 2015). His new monograph “Ethnic Federalism in Cyprus: Territory, Power and Security” is currently in press with Routledge - Taylor & Francis.
