Pedro Basto Sousa (Pedro Sousa) holds a PhD in Economics (ISEG, U. Lisbon). He is Assist. Professor @ Fac. Law and School of Criminology of the University of Porto, where he is Director of the Master in Criminology Program. He has been teaching in Portugal and abroad courses on Statistics, Methodology, Organized Crime, and Economics. Current research in Criminology, specifically on: economic and financial crimes; costs of crime; evaluation research of intervention programs in crime and justice; and tax authority and taxpayers relationships. Former member of the Executive Board of the European Society of Criminology, he is affiliated with the Crime, Justice and Security - Interdisciplinary Research Centre (CJS) and with the Centre for Law and Economics Research (CIJE).
