I am a senior researcher at the Institute of International Relations in Prague and also teach at Charles University and Anglo-American University Prague such courses as "Politics of Authoritarianism", "Politics and Identity in the Near East", "Democratization and Survival of Autocrats." I have recently completed a 4 year research project on Democratic Recessions funded by the Czech Science Foundation. My solo and co-authored articles in 2024 appeared in such journals as British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, Democratization and Government & Opposition. My main research interests lay at the intersection of "hybrid regimes," "authoritarian regimes," and "political parties." I have published extensively on the case of Turkey. I have also recently studied the cases of Tunisia and Hungary, and compared them with Turkey.
