Raquel Santos Fernandes is a PhD Candidate in Political Science and International Relations at the Department of Political Science at the University of Minho (PT) awaiting VIVA. She completed her master’s degree in Political Science with a thesis on the quality of democracy, while her PhD focused on the gendered processes of de-democratization in Turkey. She is a Member of the Research Center in Political Science (CICP) and has been a visiting researcher at the Middle East Technical University (TR). Her research interests include Turkish Politics, political regimes, de-democratization, and gender and politics, particularly the politicization of gender and gender equality policy.
