About

During 2022-2024 I will be working on feminist analyses of the EU's Green Deal, supported by the Flax Foundation's Emma Goldman Award. In this work I'll draw together Feminist Political Economy, Ecofeminist perspectives and feminist analyses of EU integration. I take an intersectional approach and am always working to deepen my anti-racist practice. My teaching focuses on feminist global political economy and gender and public policy. Recent publications include: * (2021) Dead Ends and Blind Spots: The Epistemological Foundation of the Crisis in Social Reproduction (Co-authored with A Elomaki; JCMS) https://doi.org/10.1111/jcms.13288 * (2021) Feminist Political Economy and It's Explanatory Promise (co-authored with A Elomaki) https://www.taylorfrancis.com/chapters/edit/10.4324/9781351049955-7/feminist-political-economy-explanatory-promise-rosalind-cavaghan-anna-elomäki * (2020) Experts Idiots and Liars: The Gender Politics of Knowledge in Turbulent Times (co-authored with T Kulawik; Social Politics) https://academic.oup.com/sp/article-abstract/27/4/643/6055062?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false * (2020) The Possibilities and Constraints for Intersectional Practice in Gender Budgeting (Social Politics) https://academic.oup.com/sp/article-abstract/27/4/670/5943205?redirectedFrom=fulltext * (2017) Making Gender Equality Happen: Knowledge Change and Resistance in EU Gender Mainstreaming https://www.routledge.com/Making-Gender-Equality-Happen-Knowledge-Change-and-Resistance-in-EU-Gender/Cavaghan/p/book/9781138998735 I also work as an independent policy consultant. Recent consultancy projects include a Gender Impact Assessment of USAid's flagship democracy building project in Moldova 'Comunitatea Mea'; the creation of gender mainstreaming tools for scientific projects funded through the Global Challenges Research Fund, and assessments of the effectiveness of gender equality institutions in the EU. I have also delivered training on gender budgeting / feminist economics for the Scottish Government and am currently mapping the 'gender sensitivity' of the Scottish environmental NGO sector for the Scottish Women's Budget Group - an organisation of which I am a trustee.
