Since 2018 I work as a Research Associate (‘Akademische Rätin’) at the Chair for the Governance of Complex and Innovative Technological Systems at the Institute of Political Sciences at the University of Bamberg (Germany). I have a PhD in urban studies (doctoral thesis on urban sprawl, land-use analysis, multi-method research) obtained at the Bicocca University of Milan (Italy) and KU Leuven (Belgium) in 2014 (co-tutorship). Between 2016 and 2017 I worked as a post-doc researcher at the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL in an international project dealing with the impact of strategic spatial planning on land-use change (CONCUR project). My main research interests include: policy making processes in land-use planning and management, urban transformations, sustainability, the use of technologies in cities and critical perspectives on smart cities, public participation processes in urban transformations, complexity-informed approaches in the social sciences, and qualitative, comparative and multi/mixed research methods in the social sciences.
