About

I am the the Programme Director of the HDip in Politics and Society in Carlow College St. Patrick’s, where my teaching focuses on citizenship, migration and social policy. I am also undertaking my doctoral research in the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice in University College Dublin. My research interests lie in the intersections of gender, sexuality, race and class in the context of citizenship and migration control and bordering practices. My research is interdisciplinary and utilizes mixed methods to examine the regulation of marriage migration, specifically how anticipation and discretion interact in pre-emptive attempts to criminalise marriages of convenience in Ireland. Other areas of interest include: political discourse pnalysis, direct provision, sexuality and gender politics, far-right populist politics and social movements.
