Professor of Political Science at the University of Calgary (Canada). Has researched and published extensively on gender and political representation in parliaments and cabinets. Books include WOMEN AND POLITICS IN CHILE, THE IMPACT OF GENDER QUOTAS (with Mona Lena Krook and Jennifer M. Piscopo) and CABINETS, MINISTERS, AND GENDER (with Claire Annesley and Karen Beckwith). She served as co-editor of Politics and Gender from 2019 to 2022. Her current research project, funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Grant (2019-2024), is the Motherhood Dilemma in Parliamentary Politics. The project explores the intersections of parental status and gender in parliaments and why some countries have adapted rules and procedures to accommodate members with young children.
