Associated Professor with tenure in International Relations, holds a PhD in Contemporary History (Demography). Teacher at the Department of Political Studies at FCSH and Invited Professor at NOVA Information Management School both from Universidade NOVA (Portugal). Coordinator of three Pos-graduations: Strategic and security studies (a partnership between NOVA and Institute of National Defense); Globalization, Diplomacy and Security (a partnership between NOVA, Diplomatic Institute (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Military University Institute (Ministry of Defense); Information management and Security (a partnership between NOVA, IDN-MDN and ISIRP- PCM). She belongs to several national and international associations in the research areas of demographic studies and international relations. Responsible and member of national and international projects, financed, namely by the Ministry of National Defense, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, and European Community funds. Responsible Researcher and member of national and international projects, most of them on Ageing population, Health, Social Conditions, Foresight Studies. Member of the Board of IPRI - Portuguese Institute of International Relations, where he coordinates the Research Line of Foresight and Strategic Planning. Author, co-author or editor of 23 books, and hundred and a half articles and book chapters. Her main research areas are Demography, Foresight and Strategic Planning, Migration, Ageing and Health, Security Studies.
