Senior Lecturer in Irish and British politics and contemporary history at Cardiff University. Research on: Ireland and dealing with the legacy of the Northern Ireland conflict 1969 to 2018; The Intelligence War against the IRA, 1969 to 1998; Paramilitaries and Rebel Governance in Northern Ireland and Comparative Case Studies; Sinn Fein; Informers and Dealing with Conflict Legacies. Former postdoctoral scholar with the Government of Ireland fellowship at NUI Galway. Completed History PhD at King's College London. Publications include 'The Intelligence War Against the IRA' (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2020) - available in paperback and hardback across Europe. The book conducts a regional analysis of the British intelligence campaign against the IRA and suggests British intelligence for various reasons did not push the IRA towards peace. Research sources include interviews with former conflict participants. It has been shortlisted for the Royal Historical Society's Whitfield Prize 2021.
