The 2014 Joint Sessions of Workshops (the ECPR’s 42nd) took place in the beautiful and historic city of Salamanca in Spain.

Nearly 100 proposals were received for the 24 Workshop slots available, and 761 papers proposed for 419 places, making the 2014 event every bit as popular and competitive as previous Joint Sessions. In total, some 450 participants came together from across the world to share ideas, develop their work, and grow their networks in a very congenial environment.

Workshops covered the full gamut of political science, from ‘Climate Ethics and Climate Economics’ to ‘Contemporary Meanings of Party Membership’. A full list of Workshops and the papers presented within them can be found in the Academic Programme via the Quick Links panel to the right.

Highlights of the social programme included the annual Stein Rokkan lecture, which was delivered by ECPR founder Jean Blondel, who stood in at the last minute as Scott Mainwaring was unable to travel due to ill health; presentation of the Jean Blondel PhD and Wildenmann Prizes; and a lecture by the ECPR’s previous Chair, Luciano Bardi. In addition, a number of well-attended receptions also took place, offering hard working participants the opportunity to relax and socialise over Spanish tapas.

For a full round-up of the event see the May issue of ECPR News.

The next Joint Sessions will take place in Warsaw at the end of March 2015. See the Warsaw pages for more information.
