The Joint Sessions of Workshops

25 – 28 April 2023, Sciences Po Toulouse

  #ecprjs23

At long last, our Joint Sessions are coming to Toulouse! Stay tuned, the call for Workshops opens in September.

A bit of history

Our Joint Sessions was born in Mannheim in 1973 when, for the first time ever, ten parallel Workshops were organised as an alternative to a series of one-off Workshops throughout the year.

Today, this unique event gathers scholars at all career stages, from all sub-fields of political science, and all parts of the world, for several days of intense discussion, feedback, and collaboration.

Join us for a double celebration

In 2023, the Joint Sessions will take us to the radiant red-brick city of Toulouse to celebrate 50 years of helping researchers improve their research, grow networks and secure publishing opportunities.

We will also be joining our host, Sciences Po Toulouse, in marking its 75th birthday which makes the occasion even more special for us, and the political science community as a whole.

Founded just after WWII, pursuant to an ordinance adopted by General de Gaulle in 1945, Sciences Po Toulouse opened its doors in 1948. Since then, it has grown continuously in size and prestige, and now welcomes over 1,600 students who are rigorously selected via a nationwide examination.

The event

Workshops are closed discussions comprising 15–20 participants each, and lasting several days.

The topics of discussion are precisely defined, and only those scholars currently working in the Workshop's field are invited to participate.

Each participant presents a Paper which is then discussed in depth by the group. Participants may attend only one Workshop and must fully participate in all its sessions.
