Our General Conference is a prestigious global stage that promotes innovative thinking, facilitates rich discussions and nurtures the development of research across all sub-disciplines of political science.

Having brought together over 2,000 scholars in Innsbruck and online for our 2022 General Conference, we are thrilled to be planning the 2023 event in the historic city of Prague, at Charles University.

As a leading industry event, the General Conference continues to support the advancement of political science across Europe.

As such, it provides opportunities for scholars across all regional and national borders to come together, present research to peers, connect with like-minded researchers and benefit from fascinating discussions and intense debates.

Founded in 1348, Charles University is among the oldest in the world, yet it is also renowned as a modern, dynamic, institution.

It is the largest and most renowned Czech university and the best-rated Czech university according to international rankings.

Today, the University comprises 17 faculties at which more than 50,000 students are enrolled across three institutes, six centres of teaching, research, development and other creative activities, and a centre providing information services.

The Faculty of Social Sciences was founded in 1990, playing a pivotal role in restoring social sciences studies.

Fees and registration

Registration opens on 15 May 2023. 

Your registration fee will be determined by the format of your Panel as indicated in the Panel code prefix in the Academic Programme:

  • PRA for in-person Panels held at Charles University
  • VIR for virtual Panels

Participants attending and appearing in any capacity in the Academic Programme must register and pay through our online system before the registration deadline. 

In-person Panels
  • ECPR Member
    Standard: €240 (CZK5,618.50)/ Student: €72 (CZK1,685.55)
  • Non-Member
    Standard: €480 (CZK11,237)/ Student: €312 (CZK7304.06)
Virtual Panels
  • ECPR Member
    Standard: €120 (CZK2,809.24)/ Student: €36 (CZK842.78)
  • Non-Member
    Standard: €240 (CZK5,618.50)/ Student: €156 (CZK3,652.02)
The above fees are inclusive of VAT. All participants must pay a fee. Your space is not secured until your registration is paid in full.

Thanks to our two funding streams, you could get funded to attend our General Conference!

If your application is successful, we'll cover your registration fee, plus travel and accommodation costs if you're attending an in-person Panel.

Event Participation Grant

Open to PhD students and early career scholars from ECPR Full Member institutions.

50th Anniversary Fund

Available to individual scholars who are not eligible to apply for our standard event participant funding scheme.

Please note:
  • You must not be in receipt of any other funding for this event;
  • You must not have received funding from ECPR within the last two years.
Funding has now closed. If you applied for funding, please do not register until you have heard about the outcome of your application.
