Our Standing Group on Parliaments proudly presents its Summer School, which connects students from Europe and beyond with leading scholars in the fields of legislatures, representation, and political parties. The event offers a platform to explore the latest advancements in the field, present ongoing research, and receive career advice.

About

Organised by our Standing Group on Parliaments, the Summer School serves as a vibrant learning environment for PhD candidates and early‑career researchers studying national, regional, or transnational parliaments. Throughout the programme, you will explore core debates in legislative studies, discuss recent theoretical and methodological advances, and connect with peers working on similar topics.

Over the course of seven teaching days, the programme features daily lectures by internationally recognised experts. Sessions address key themes such as classic and emerging approaches to studying parliaments, descriptive representation, legislative responsiveness, communication and media in legislative politics, executive–legislative relations, opposition behaviour, and party polarisation within parliamentary arenas.

A special highlight of the Summer School is a visit to the Rhineland-Palatina state parliament, including a guided tour and a meeting with Members of Parliament.

  • Daily student presentations and feedback sessions
