Located in the heart of Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra University was founded in 1990 and has developed a strong reputation for research, education and international collaboration.

Barcelona is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, known for its distinctive architecture, rich cultural heritage and Mediterranean setting, offering an inspiring environment for scholarly exchange and discussion.

Call for Sections

Further information on the submission process, deadlines and requirements will be available when the call opens in late October.

Put your research area at the heart of our flagship event. Propose a Section to advance debate, champion new research directions, and bring scholars together around a shared theme.

We welcome cutting-edge Section proposals across all areas of political science – from comparative politics and public policy to international relations, political theory and European studies.

As a Section Chair, you will define your Section’s focus, select Panel and Paper proposals, and bring them together into a rich and varied programme. It is an opportunity to raise the profile of your field, strengthen scholarly networks and spark collaborations across regions and career stages.

Role of Section Chairs

Develop a clear description of the Section’s focus and scope.
Evaluate and select Panel and Paper proposals submitted to the Section.
Aim for a diversity of gender, geography and career stage.
Assign Panel Chairs and Discussants, as appropriate.
Organise individual Papers into Panels or assign them to Panels, as appropriate.
After registration, review Panels and Papers, merging or creating panels as needed.

Good to know

It is assumed that all Panels included in the Section proposals are to be held in person at Pompeu Fabra University. Section Chairs wishing to hold a fully virtual Section should contact our Events Team before the submission deadline.

Your institution’s ECPR membership determines how you can take part.

Each section must have one Chair and one Co-Chair.
Section Chairs must be affiliated with an ECPR Full Member institution.
Individuals from an Associate Member or Non-Member institutions can only serve as a Co-Chair.
