Letiště Václava Havla Praha (Václav Havel Airport) is Prague's international airport. While it has no metro or train connections to the city centre, it is served by buses and taxis.
The following bus routes connect the airport to the main metro stations:
City Bus 119
To the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (green line A) where you can transfer to other metro lines using the same ticket to continue to your destination.
City Bus 100
To Zličín metro station (yellow line B) in the centre of Prague.
Airport Express
To Prague Main station (Hlavní nádraží) (red line C).
If travelling within the Czech Republic, the quickest way between the major cities is via the express trains (rychlík), while local passenger trains (osobní vlaky) are very affordable but stop very frequently.
Direct rail links connect Prague with more than 20 European cities, including:
Tickets are available here.
As the new main operator of taxi services at the airport, Uber falls under the obligation to fix the fare before each ride. The final fare must not exceed the agreed price, even when changing the route or waiting in traffic.
Most international buses will arrive at the Florenc bus station. All bus terminals are easily accessible by metro and the name of the metro stop usually corresponds with the name of the bus terminal. You can check connections and plan your route here.
Prague lies at the nexus of several European highways and is a relatively easy drive from many major regional cities.
Check if you are eligible for a visa exemption here.
Visas are mandatory for all visitors not covered by the above. Where a visa is required to visit Prague for a stay of up to 90 days you will need to apply for a Schengen (short-term) visa.
Please note the following:
More information on travellers that require a visa is available here.
Further information on visas
Visa requirements and related rules may be subject to change. If you are in doubt, you are strongly advised to contact the Czech embassy in your country by visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and applying for your visa as soon as possible.
Visa invitation letters will be supplied on request only when ECPR has received the registration fee in full, and when the 7-day cooling-off period has passed.
Unfortunately, the ECPR cannot offer any further advice on visas.
Free travel passes will be available for all participants and will be handed out at registration. Tickets will be valid for zones P, O, and B (in the Prague area) except for PID trains.
Find more information on zones and timetables here.
When you get the ticket, you will need to stamp it in the yellow validator machine (usually in metro station or inside of bus or tram) on your first journey. It will be marked by the date and time. From that time it is validated for five days and you do not have to stamp it again. Further information can be found here.
Tickets in Prague can be used on any type of public transportation and allow transfers between lines and different types of transport for the duration of the period for which the pass is valid. These can be purchased for 30 or 90 minutes, 24 hours or 72 hours.
You can buy your tickets here. Children under six ride free.
Ticket terminals are installed in all trams and in the metro vestibules. They are intended for the purchase of single-journey tickets and issue only a limited range of tickets. Only cashless payments are accepted. Find more information here.

After the metro closes, night trams (91 to 99) cross the city about every 30 minutes through the night.
View the map of the metro and tram network here.
Daytime trams run from 5 am until midnight in 8–10 minute intervals (10–20 minutes on weekends). Night trams (numbers 91–99) run from 00:30 am to 4:30 am in 30-minute intervals.
