Virtual Participation

We've created this handy guide for virtual conference participants. It's designed to help you at every step of your General Conference experience – from uploading your Paper to making the most of your participation.

Our friendly Events Team are on hand to assist throughout the event via virtual helpdesk on the event platform.

Important: Please ensure you are logged into the event platform with the same email address as the one you have registered for the event with.

Get Started

Conference format

We will stream all in-person Panels and headline events online. These will be available to all conference participants via our event platform – simply head to On Now and follow the link to join.

The format of each Panel and activity is indicated in the programme with the following icons:

In-person Panel or activity
Virtual Panel or activity

You can also search the programme by Panel code – PRA for in-person Panels held in Prague and VIR for virtual Panels.

Guidance for Panel Chairs and Discussants

Prepare for your participation in the role of a Panel Chair or Discussant with our useful guide.

Attending in Prague if your Panels are virtual

If all Panels in which you have a participating role are taking place virtually, please consider your environmental footprint and avoid travelling to Prague.

Please note that the virtual participation fee (both participant and observer) covers online participation only.

Code of Conduct

We think that everyone deserves a positive event experience. Please take a few moments to read our Code of Conduct which outlines our expectations regarding the conduct of participants at all our events.

Upload your Paper

Please note that uploading your Paper via My ECPR constitutes an agreement for ECPR to publish the Paper on the event platform, which will be accessible to all participants.

Please upload your Paper (in PDF format and in English) well ahead of your presentation so that your fellow Panel attendees have time to prepare comments and questions.

Head to My Events in your My ECPR account.
Click Manage Paper > Browse > Select your Paper > Open/OK > Upload.
Click View Document to ensure that it has been uploaded successfully

You can also use this facility to replace your Paper or remote it after the event.

Prefer to share your Paper with fellow panellists directly?

Please email your Paper to your Panel Chair.

To access uploaded Papers on your Panel, log in to the event platform and browse the Papers tab under Programme. If available, click the Download Full Paper button on the Paper information page to get the PDF.

Check your itinerary

All Panel sessions in which you have a role have been automatically added to your itinerary.
Add more sessions to your Itinerary by clicking the calendar button in the programme.
Your itinerary is accessible through the event platform and My Events.
Times are displayed in local time (Central European Summer Time).

Want to add sessions directly to your calendar?

Simply click the Export to Calendar button in your Itinerary.

Get online

All virtual Panels will run on Zoom. If you are directing a Panel, you will be automatically assigned as host for your Panel's Zoom sessions.

Before joining, familiarise yourself with features you may need – mute / unmute microphone, stop/start video, share screen, naming / renaming yourself, chat and 'raise hand'. Find out more in the attendee controls guide.

How to join

On the event platform, find the session in your My Itinerary or head to On Now.
Click the Join Meeting button which will appear 15 minutes before the start time.
You’ll see an option to join via the Zoom app or your browser.
Simply follow Zoom prompts to get connected.

Times in your itinerary are indicated in CEST.

Notice of photography/filming

ECPR may record all events in the form of photography, screen capture, filming, and audio recording of interactions such as discussions during Panel sessions, roundtables or other headline events.

This media may be used by us to promote ECPR activities. These activities may include publishing it at ecpr.eu, or using it in digital and email marketing, on social media, and in other promotional materials. If you do not wish to appear in such media, please email generalconference@ecpr.eu.

If you or any other participant want to take a screen capture for personal use, such as sharing on social media, you / they should request permission from the Panel or activity Chair.
