Abstract

The extent to which international organizations are constrained by the interests of their various stakeholders is a central topic in international relations. We know that great powers can wield enormous influence over international organizations and their bureaucracies, but we also know that smaller states can wield disproportionate influence. Furthermore, various non-state actors, as well as the members' broader public, are increasingly important. This panel seeks to explore the role of these various stakeholders in determining the design and structure of international organizations, their international operations, as well as the policy output and outcomes that follows.
