Integrated water governance concerns many different sectors including drinking water provision, flood risk management, agriculture, environmental sustainability, tourism or shipping. Moreover, water governance is carried out, and affected by, a multiplicity of actors and policies from the local to the international level. Conducting empirical assessments concerned with coordination and cooperation in integrated water governance is a challenging task. The panel aims to provide a platform to discuss new and innovative conceptual approaches and methods to understand how the components of such an integrated water governance work together, which different forms integrated water governance can take in practice, and which outcomes such an approach generates. Contributions to the panel should be structured around the following questions: • What analytical framework and what methods were used for assessing integrated water governance? • What are the results? • Which methodological vigours and flaws did you identify? We expressly welcome contributions with case studies in the global South or considering the interactions of SDG 6 and related SDGs.
