This panel brings together papers that analyze women as political actors in various institutional contexts from a comparative perspective. It addresses questions related to gendered patterns of MPs voting behavior, political careers, political group formation, political ambition and competence evaluation of ministers. All studies highlight that men and women in the political arena face different challenges and, thus, that gender is an important variable to consider in the analysis of political processes.
