Outer space is an increasingly important domain of state competition. Following the dramatic rise of China after the end of Cold War, the spread of actors operating in the domain, and the appearance of NewSpace, it is crucial to analyze the geopolitical and geoeconomic perspectives on the ongoing competition defined not only by clashing ambitions like the development of the lunar settlement but also the proclamation of outer space as the fifth operational domain by NATO in 2019. The panel discovers both classical analysis from the geopolitical and geoeconomic perspective and their critique. The aim is to present an outlook on divergent topics that will become dominant in the ever more important field of space policy.
