Abstract

Accurate media coverage of instances of violations of human rights is a necessary condition for any society to address this problem. However, nowadays, the role of mass-media is being compromised in a variety of ways, starting from “old-fashioned” violence against journalists, ending with sophisticated manipulations in the digital domain. The panel will examine case studies exemplifying the freedom of speech challenges from different political contexts, all of which have an impact on the quality of human rights protection.
